MERSEYSIDE - some of the grants we made in 2005-2006:
- £5,000 towards running costs for an independent welfare rights advice centre in Liverpool
- £3,840 to run Complementary Therapy Days for family members of drug users
- £2,500 a year for 2 years for the running costs of a racial awareness project
- £2,500 towards the running costs of a befriending scheme for Chinese elders
- £3,300 salary costs for crèche workers at a multi-cultural community centre
- £2,500 towards the cost of health awareness events for men
- £3,835 running costs for a community organisation in Liverpool
- £5,024 to purchase furniture for a community centre in Sefton
- £150 towards transport costs for a club for deaf and hard of hearing people in Wirral
- £3,702 volunteer expenses and insurance cover for a Shopmobility scheme
- £2,000 towards the costs of a Christmas shelter for homeless people in St Helens
- £5,000 to a project providing emergency support to destitute asylum seekers in Merseyside
- £2,350 to purchase office furniture for a new self-help group for people with a disability
- £2,000 a year for 3 years for the running costs of a children's counselling service
- £1,500 for training courses for volunteers at a community association
- £10,000 towards salary costs of a project working with older people.
NORTHERN IRELAND
- £5,000 to an independent advice centre for running costs
- £4,800 towards educational classes for Muslim women
- £1,022 a year for 3 years towards the running costs of a rural Residents' Association
- £3,990 for running and activity costs to a group working with older people in an isolated rural area
- £5,000 for running costs of a Lifestart programme in a rural area
- £4,740 for equipment and running costs of a Belfast women's group
